The Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has decided to set up a solid waste management project in the Pissurlem Industrial Estate to ensure more efficient and sustainable handling of industrial waste generated by various companies operating in the area.

A decision to establish this project was taken after detailed discussions during a recent meeting of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation and a tender has already been issued for the project.

According to available information, several companies are functioning within the Pissurlem industrial estate, generating a significant amount of solid waste. Due to the lack of proper facilities, many units have been disposing of waste in open areas, leading to growing environmental concerns. There has been a long-standing demand from industrial units for a dedicated waste management project.

Taking this issue into account, GIDC has taken the initiative to establish a dedicated waste management facility within the estate. Necessary provisions and preliminary preparations are being made, and the tender process has been initiated. Once the tender is finalised, the implementation of the project will begin.

Officials stated that although companies in the estate face various challenges, waste management has emerged as a major concern. Protecting the environment and maintaining ecological balance are critical priorities for the future.

The proposed project aims to streamline waste management processes and prevent environmental degradation.

The solid waste management project is expected to play a crucial role in making waste management in the industrial estate more efficient and sustainable.
