ZIAV officials pumping out the fuel-contaminated water into the barrels from the well located within the premises of Our Lady of Health Church at Shindole, Sancoale.

Acting on instructions of the State administration, officials of ZIAV Private Limited on Tuesday carried out pumping operations at the well located within the premises of Our Lady of Health Church at Shindole, Sancoale, removing around five barrels of fuel-contaminated water.

The exercise was undertaken as part of immediate measures to tackle the contamination issue, with officials coordinating on-site to ensure the safe extraction of polluted water from the well. The operation continued for several hours before the contaminated water was collected and secured for further action.

ZIAV CEO Shriprasad Nayak stated that the company has complied with the directions issued by the administration and has completed the initial phase of pumping out the affected water. He informed that the firm will now await further instructions from the State authorities regarding the disposal of the contaminated water, as the process involves technical and environmental considerations.

He further assured that ZIAV Private Limited will extend full cooperation to the administration in any subsequent steps, including additional pumping, handling, or support required to address the situation effectively.

Officials are now expected to take a call on the method and location for safe disposal of the extracted water, in line with environmental norms and guidelines.

The next course of action will be decided after consultations among the concerned departments and technical experts.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with focus now shifting to follow-up measures after the initial removal of contaminated water, as part of the ongoing efforts to manage the incident.
