A day after his appointment as President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Girish Chodankar assumed charge on Saturday.
The charge-taking ceremony also saw newly appointed party office-bearers assume their responsibilities. Notably absent from the event was Chodankar’s predecessor, Amit Patkar, whose absence drew attention amid the leadership transition.
Addressing party workers after taking charge, Chodankar launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Minister Vishwajit Rane, referring to them as Goa’s “Jodi No. 1”.
“We will closely monitor Goa’s Jodi No. 1 -- Pramod Sawant and Vishwajit Rane,” Chodankar said, alleging that the two leaders were working against the interests of the State.
Accusing the government of being insensitive and irresponsible, Chodankar claimed that its policies were causing growing anxiety among Goans.
“This government is insensitive and functioning irresponsibly. They are out to sell Goa. Goans are worried about what is happening in the State,” he said.
