MARGAO
Town and Country Planning Minister Vijai Sardesai has hit out at Girish Chodankar for raking up the Nuvem dance row, saying the GPCC chief has an allergy towards him, and has been blaming him for anything and everything in the State.
Reacting to the charges levelled by the Congress vis-Ã -vis the Nuvem dance fiasco, Sardesai said he has nothing to do with the dance, further saying that the issue does not come under the ambit of any of his portfolios.
As far as the SGPDA dance is concerned, the TCP Minister denied that he had organised it, but has confirmed that the show was funded by his We for Fatorda group.
“Girish has a phobia towards me since 1996. I had made him the Margao Municipal Council councillor and that was the only time he had won an election. He has opposed my stand on Konkani at the airport, and I would like to know whether the Congress is opposed to Konkani. In respect of the Nuvem dance, the police have told me there was a gram sabha resolution objecting to shows at Woodbourne. Is the Congress opposed to the government giving effect to gram sabha resolutions?” he said, adding that the government has recently acted on the gram sabha resolution of Sarzora panchayat on the conversion of low-lying areas.
Charging Girish for taking the Congress to the grave, Sardesai said the party cannot form the government in Goa despite being the single-largest party because of people such as Girish.
