Congress North Goa Lok Sabha candidate Girish Chodankar came down heavily on the government for failing to maintain cleanliness in the coastal area, even as he raked up the garbage menace asserting that it had reached unbearable heights.
Chodankar was addressing a corner meeting as part of his electioneering in Saligao constituency. He said, in the name of Swachh Bharat crores of rupees were being siphoned by BJP
leaders.
On the NYAY (Nyuntam Aay Yojana) scheme of giving Rs 72,000 per annum to poor families, Girish assured that minimum income is a Congress initiative and eradicating poverty is the party’s objective.
Chodankar stressed that ‘hate politics’ under the NDA government was on the rise and it is a proven fact that Goans have always lived in harmony.
“The strength of our culture is its diversity. The hospitable nature of Goans is being vitiated by the government with its divide and rule policy,” he
added.
He said threat of sedition charges against those who question government’s anti-people policies was the norm of the day. “BJP’s veteran L K Advani too lambasted the present government by asserting inner party democracy and outside party tolerance have been shaken from its very foundation. Such a statement coming from a respected senior leader speaks volumes,” he added.
