KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT), Belagavi, inaugurated its new state-of-the-art Material Testing Laboratory on October 25. The facility has been set up with CSR support from FOSROC Chemicals (India) Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, and aims to strengthen hands-on learning and support advanced research for civil engineering students.
Shankar Kottur, General Manager of FOSROC Chemicals (India) Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest for the event. Rajendra Belgaumkar, Chairman of the Governing Council of KLS GIT, presided over the programme.
He stressed the importance of close collaboration between industry and academic institutions to promote innovation and produce skilled engineers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vaibhav R Chate highlighted the value of modern testing facilities in helping students develop practical skills. He said the new laboratory will play a key role in both academic development and applied research.
Prof D A Kulkarni, Dean (Administration), appreciated the institute’s continuous efforts to enhance its infrastructure and thanked FOSROC for its support in making the project possible.
The laboratory is equipped to carry out detailed tests on material strength, durability and performance, and will be a vital resource for teaching and research in civil engineering.
The event was held at the Structural Engineering Laboratory premises and marked an important step in KLS GIT’s commitment to developing industry-ready engineers.
