All 150 beds at super-specialty block of the Goa Medical College have pipeline oxygen installed and a 20,000-litre tank base pipe oxygen facility, the Chief Minister informed on Wednesday on his visit to the block.
Sawant visited the newly completed block along with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. Following the visit, CM declared that GMC will begin shifting 150 patients to the super-specialty block from Wednesday afternoon.
CM Sawant informed in addition to the piped oxygen, 200 oxygen concentrators will be available which are donated by Fomento, Sesa Vedanta and Siemens company.
CM Sawant also said that he received a call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night to take a stock of oxygen supply in the state. “PM Modi has asked us to conduct an audit of oxygen production, supply and requirements in the state,” he stated.
In its fight against the ongoing surge in the Covid cases, the state government has notified the entire premises of Primary Health Centre, Cansaulim as a dedicated Covid Hospital.
All the staff attached to the Primary Health Centre, Cansaulim will be moved to the new building to operate the above Covid-19 Hospital and only casualty services will be operated on the ground floor and Covid-19 Hospital on the top two floors.
