Goa a futuristic logistics hub: Sawant

At the 7th Edition of the CII Goa Conference & Expo on Logistics, CM Pramod Sawant has assured that the state government will extend all the support to make Goa a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub and development of the sector. He stated that CII has always been at the forefront in the thought leadership to put India on the economic path and technological advancement and increase our contribution to world trade.

Addressing the gathering at the CII Goa Conference on Logistics, Suresh Prabhu, 6 times Member of Parliament stated that Goa, being situated at the heart of the country, was well poised to be one of the most unique destinations for Multi-Modal Logistics Hub particularly from the perspective of the overall logistics and due to its strategic location which makes it very effective for the trading of various economic activities and the integration of various services, thus providing end to end solutions, stated a press release.

CM Sawant stated that logistics is the key driver of this growth as every single day several kilometres that are being added to the highway network has never been done in the past. With the logistics market growing at a fast pace, Goa has become a key player, considering its strategic location with a large industrial base with an export focus like Pharma and other sectors. Goan rivers must be better utilized for handling cargo.

"The recently formulated State logistics coordination committee (SLCC) will focus on physical infrastructure, systems and processes, logistics workforce strategy, policy and coordination for the sector. The government is consciously working on a comprehensive logistics plan for the state to reduce the cost of logistics and create integrated development in line with the National policy."

Other eminent speakers also spoke on the ongoing developments related to logistics infrastructure in Goa, its greater role in growing domestic and international trade and inherent competitiveness, Logistics Ecosystem Development “ Leveraging Air Cargo Competitiveness, Blue Economy - Finding a Competitive Advantage and Exploring the full potential of Multi-Modal Logistics through rail network in Goa.
