In a bid to regulate and control illegal constructions, the State government proposes to undertake geo-mapping of the entire State through satellite imagery within one year.
The State Budget 2025-26 tabled by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant speaks about geo-mapping of the State as per the directions issued by the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
Under fire for granting rampant permissions for mega projects, the government has decided to undertake an assessment of the carrying capacity of the State and to plan accordingly.
“An assessment of the carrying capacity of the State will be carried out and planning will be accordingly done in order to achieve the goal of Vikasit Goa and Vikasit Bharat, 2047,” Sawant said.
To have better planning prospects, the Steering Committee of the TCP Department will be strengthened by involving multiple stakeholders including heads of government departments who are crucial in the planning aspect of the State Government.
“Further, the approvals for mega residential/commercial projects shall be decided by this committee and the decision taken by the Steering Committee shall be binding on all departments,” Sawant said.
