While Goa continued to experience scotching heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread light to moderate rainfall in the State from June 11 onwards.
Light to moderate rain/thundershowers has also been predicted at a few places on Saturday (June 10).
The Met department has also warned of thunderstorms with lightning and winds gusting at 40-50 kmph at a few places on Saturday and Sunday.
The maximum temperature continued to hover above 35 degree Celsius during the day creating discomfort among the people in the State.
The capital city of Panaji recorded maximum temperature at 35.8 degree Celsius while minimum temperature stood at 27.4 degree Celsius.
Due to the cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’, sea condition is likely to be “phenomenal” over Eastcentral Arabian sea and adjoining areas therefore rough to very rough sea condition is likely to prevail, the Met department said.
Fishermen are advised not to venture along and off the South Maharashtra-Goa coast for the next three days.
Port warning for Maharashtra-Goa coast continues to be in place due to the severe cyclonic storm.
The IMD has declared hoisting Distant Warning No 2 (DW-II) at all ports from Dahanu to Mormugao of Maharashtra-Goa coast.
The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has also issued a warning forecasting high waves along the coast off Goa between Vengurla to Vasco.
