NFF General Secretary Olencio Simoes in a press release further said that Goan fishermen could face a Kerala-like situation if Sagarmala projects are not called off.

National Fishworkers Forum ended their 3rd state Machimaar Sangrash Yatra at Kerala. Forum members  visited the affected village of Valiyathura,Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala where 400 families are displaced because of  sea erosion due to dredging of Vizhinjan International Seaport.

NFF has demanded that the Central Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways should immediately stop port expansion plans in Kerala.

"We have also highlighted that Goa's fishermen and coastal dwellers will meet the same fate if the state government doesn't scrap Sagarmala plans in Goa," said Simoes.
