Legislators will get a three-day training on the rules and procedures to be followed in the legislative assembly.

As per the Cabinet decision, the Monsoon assembly session will start from July 11.

Before the assembly session in the first week of June training will be given to the legislators, informed Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar.

Out of 40 MLAs there are around 19 first-time legislators in this Goa Legislative assembly.

"For better functioning of the assembly MLAs, especially new MLAs should be well aware of the rules and procedures of the Legislative assembly", said Tawadkar adding that this training session is for all MLA's.

"As a speaker of the house it is my duty to see that all MLAs get equal opportunity to speak so that people whom they are representing will get justice," said Tawadkar.

The legislators should be capable of raising issues of public effectively in the legislative assembly. For this reason these training sessions have been planned.

The Goa assembly has worked on electronic mode since 2014 as the assembly has gone paperless. The MLAs have to know about the paperless functioning of the assembly.

The new MLAs have to learn more about the functioning of the assembly and have to adapt to it.

During the tenure of former speaker Rajendra Arlekar, a day-long workshop for MLAs to train them in legislative proceedings, maintaining discipline and decorum on the floor of the house was held.

This time it is not known who will be the resource person for the training as in 2017 a Delhi-based private agency PRS legislative research had conducted the training workshop.
