Goa First platform open to all parties fighting BJP: Vijai

MARGAO
Asserting that Goemkars want the oppositionparties to unite to defeat the BJP, Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai onWednesday said it is the responsibility of all the opposition parties tounderstand what sort of alliance the people of Goa are looking forward to inthe upcoming elections for the Goa Legislative Assembly.

Saying that the Goa First Alliance stitched bythe Goa Forward Party and the Aam Admi Party offers a platform for all partiesopposed to the BJP to come together, Sardesai said he does not want to commenton the alliance during Pitru Paksha.

“The Goa First Alliance is still there. Theplatform offers a platform for others to join. New people can come on board,”he told the media.

When the media drew his attention to AAPleader Arvind Kejrival’s statement that the Goa First Alliance is a non-BJP,non-Congress alliance, Sardesai shot back, “He has nothing to comment,” askingthe media to question Kejrival on his statement.

Referring to the statement made by South GoaCongress MP Viirato Fernandes that the ball lies in the court of the GoaForward on the alliance with the Congress, Sardesai said, “The ball lies ineverybody’s court and not in the court of one political party. We need tounderstand first what the people of Goa want on the alliance. This is a processwherein we need to understand the situation.”

On the grand alliance of opposition parties, hesaid all the parties should join the grand alliance. “People want everyone tojoin the alliance. If there is no grand alliance, it’s not that we would commitpolitical suicide. Political suicide is not an option. Understanding thesentiment of the people of Goa is our job and all the political parties shouldjoin to form an alliance,” he added.
