Goa most ideal State to move to cashless society: Parrikar
Says time has come to convert mobile phone into bank

Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that withdrawal of Rs 500 and 1,000 currency notes may have come as a bolt from the blue, but the main objective of demonetisation was to tackle black money, fake currency, terrorist funding and drug trafficking.
He was speaking at the Vijay Sankalp Mahamelava of Saligao constituency organised by Saligao BJP Mandal.
“Demonetisation cannot be treated as an isolated exercise, but must be viewed as a larger effort to push the society into a cashless one. Considering the IT infrastructure in the State, Goa is the best State to move to cashless society,” he said.
“Time has come to convert mobile phone into bank and all monetary transaction are made through mobile phone by installing necessary app. The State government is serious is in this regard and has directed IT and Goa Electronics to work in this direction so that all government departments follow the cashless payment mode from December,” said Parrikar.
He further said the Indian Armed Forces are the prime guardians of national integrity and sovereignty.
“The Indian Armed Forces which guard national borders live in inclement weather condition. Presently, the temperature on the border areas is minus 10 degree Celsius. Now, the commanders at the helm of the affairs of the Indian Army have been give powers to give befitting reply to the enemy whenever there is an attack from them,” said Parrikar.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said despite adverse economic conditions, BJP introduced and implemented schemes like Gruha Aadhar, Ladli Laxmi, Dayanand Social Security Scheme, Kamdhenu, subsidies for farmers to purchase farming equipment, Din Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojna, etc, successfully.
“The State government has fulfilled most of the assurances given to the electorate during 2012 assembly elections,” he said.
He said there are seven constituencies in Bardez taluka, out which six are with BJP. “Everybody should make efforts to retain these six constituencies with BJP and also capture Porvorim so that Bardez becomes the stronghold of BJP in the ensuing elections.”
Minister of State for Ayush Shripad Naik, South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar, BJP State president Vinay Tendulkar, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, Sakhali MLA Pramod Sawant, Mahila Morcha president Kunda Chodankar and Anil Hoble also spoke.
Saligao BJP Mandal general secretary Jayesh Samant welcomed the gathering, while president Deepak Rane proposed the vote of thanks.
