Goa Police arrest West Bengal man in cyber fraud case

PANAJI
The Old Goa Police have arrested Suman Ghughu from Kolkata in a Rs 3.13 lakh cyber fraud case.

A 71-year-old St Cruz resident was duped on May 30 via a WhatsApp video call by a man posing as “Dipak Agarwal” from a nationalised bank offering a fake credit card for retirees.

The victim shared his CVV and OTP, leading to the unauthorised transaction. Digital forensics traced the money trail to multiple Kolkata accounts, prompting joint action by Goa and West Bengal police.

Ghughu was apprehended on June 27, brought to Goa on transit remand, and remanded to five days’ police custody by the JMFC, Merces.
