Goa Police conducted its first-ever cybercrime awareness programmes outside the State, reaching out to around 850 Indian Navy personnel and their families at the Naval Base in Karwar, Karnataka, on Tuesday. Information shared with the media revealed the two programmes -- organised by the Cyber Crime Police Station, Ribandar -- were at the request of senior Navy officers. The first session was held for around 500 officers serving aboard INS Vikramaditya, the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier, while the second was attended by around 350 Navy officers and their family members.
The sessions focused on cybercrime and cybersecurity in India, covering various online scams, their modus operandi, preventive measures, cyber safety practices and mechanisms for reporting cybercrime. Participants were also briefed on the 1930 Cyber Helpline and the GRM and MRM modules.
