A day after the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) sleuths arrested a Russian DJ for alleged possessing for drugs including Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate, the officials claimed GHB is the first seizure in Goa.
The woman DJ, whose identity has not been disclosed to the media, was arrested from her rented premises at Keri-Pernem where 337g of liquid ecstasy and 33.16g of ganja, besides Rs 16.88 lakh cash were recovered.
Addressing a press conference today, ANC Superintendent of Police (SP) Tikam Singh Verma revealed that the raid was part of a larger investigation pan-India.
The team had recently cracked down on Rs 1 crore LSD network and, based on that information, they began looking into possible links to GHB, a potent drug.
“Through our sources and technical surveillance, we were able to identify the Russian DJ as a suspect,”
the SP said adding the accused performed at private parties. This is reportedly the first time GHB has been found
in Goa. The DJ, who has been in Goa since around 2013 or 2014, was staying on a tourist visa.
ANC is continuing its investigation to find more and if any possible drug networks or additional links associated with the arrested. The DJ has been remanded to two days of police custody.
