The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protested over the ‘cash for job’ scam and demanded that the government appoint a judicial commission to investigate the matter.
The protest was held at the Merces junction on Friday, with AAP president Amit Palekar and Velim MLA Cruz Silva participating, along with other party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Palekar alleged that BJP leaders are involved in the scam, as a scam of such magnitude could not have taken place without their involvement.
“To meet the CM, our party leaders find it difficult. So how did the accused get an appointment?” Palekar asked.
Palekar then demanded that the government appoint a judicial commission to investigate the matter.
“The commission should consist of a retired HC judge and two retired district court judges,” Palekar said.
“We do not have faith in the police, as they follow the directives of their political masters. So, if the mastermind behind the job scam is to be caught, a judicial commission probe is needed,” Palekar added.
MLA Silva said that corruption has reached its peak in Goa with the ‘cash for job’ scam, in which gullible youth are being duped under the pretext of providing jobs.
“A serious investigation is needed, and those involved should be brought to book,” Silva stated, urging the youth to come forward and support the movement so that the corruption is nipped in the bud.
The AAP has further decided to organise such protests in other parts of the state as well to put pressure on the government for the appointment of a judicial commission and to ensure that government jobs are given on merit.
