In a move to take its Swayampurna Goa vision into the artificial intelligence era, the State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with enterprise software company The Modern Data Company to explore AI applications in governance, public service delivery and citizen welfare.
The initiative, envisioned as ‘Swayampurna AI Goa’, aims to improve the delivery of government schemes, identify gaps in public services and help departments make informed decisions.
Under the agreement, the company will work with the government to identify applications for its AI-powered DataOS platform. The collaboration will be implemented in phases, with at least one selected application targeted for launch by February-March 2027, subject to departmental readiness and approvals.
Proposed applications include identifying eligible households yet to receive government benefits, tracking welfare schemes at the panchayat level and flagging students needing academic support. In tourism, AI could help forecast visitor footfall for better crowd management, transport and safety planning. Healthcare applications could include early disease detection, forecasting medicine requirements and identifying emerging health hotspots.
Launched in 2020 by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Swayampurna Goa focuses on strengthening self-reliance at the village level and ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive government entitlements.
Sanjoy Roy, Vice-President (APAC, Middle East and EU) of The Modern Data Company, said AI could help the government understand citizens’ needs and address gaps in service delivery.
The company’s DataOS platform will integrate information across departments to generate AI-driven insights while working alongside existing government systems, with an emphasis on secure data use.
Company co-founder, CTO and CPO Animesh Kumar said the collaboration would focus on translating AI applications into practical solutions that could eventually be scaled across governance functions.
