Goa to host anti-tobacco film festival on May 31

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in association with the Department of Public Health Dentistry at Goa Dental College and Hospital, will organise the 8th Goa Anti-Tobacco Film Festival 2026 on May 31.

The festival aims to spread awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use through ad films and promote film art through non-profit screenings.

This year’s theme is “Unmasking the appeal: Countering Nicotine & Tobacco Addiction”. The festival will be held in two categories — Goa section and national section.

In the Goa section, ad films must be produced by Goan producers, production houses, individuals, students studying in Goa, or educational and social institutions. Films can be in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi or English, must carry English subtitles, and should not exceed two minutes.

In the national section, films must be produced by Indian producers, production houses, individuals, students, or educational and social institutions. Entries must be in Hindi or English, include English subtitles, and be within a two-minute duration.

Registration must be completed by April 17, 2026, while the last date for film submissions is May 13, 2026. Prize money ranges from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 in the Goa section and Rs 30,000 to Rs 1,00,000 in the national section.
