As per the constitution of the Dalgado Konknni Akademi, elections for the post of President were held on February 22. Presiding officer Adv Pritam Lotlikar declared Fr Myron Jeson Barreto elected as President. Anthony Fernandes alias Anthony San, Agnelo Luzerio Fernandes alias Agnelo Borim, Wilfred Eusebio Goes alias Willy Goes, Fr Luis Xavier Gomes, Sonia Gomes and Vassalo Carvalho were elected to the working committee. The oath of office was administered to all seven newly elected members on the same day.
Fr Myron Jeson Barreto, a priest of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman from Sadolxem, Canacona, was ordained in 2017. He holds an MA in Mass Communication and Journalism and serves in various pastoral roles, including Chaplain of St Lawrence Chapel, Arossim-Cansaulim. A prolific Konkani writer, he has published 12 books in Konkani literature and 25 religious books.
He edits several publications, contributes regularly to journals and broadcasts, and has received multiple awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar 2022. He also manages New Age Printers, Verna.
