Residents claim comments hurt sentiments

Trouble has increased for well-known Goan artist Rajdeep Naik after Valpoi police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him for allegedly hurting the sentiments of people in Sattari.
According to available information, Naik allegedly referred to people from Sattari as “cattle”. Following the remark, local residents filed a complaint with the police, after which Valpoi police initiated legal action.
A case has been registered against Naik under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The sections include 196(1)(A) for promoting enmity between different groups, Section 352 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and Section 353(2) for causing public mischief or spreading rumours.
