The Seraulim road underpass is in the news again, this time due to garbage dumping. While the underpass often faces waterlogging for much of the year, the latest concern is waste being thrown along the approach road. The stretch leading to the subway has reportedly become a regular dumping spot for some people. Local resident Polly Cruz said the garbage is being dumped along the approach road mainly because there is poor lighting in the area.
To address the problem, the Seraulim panchayat has decided to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras along the approach road. The move aims to discourage people from dumping waste at the site. Cruz said that once the CCTV cameras are installed, the panchayat will begin a drive to fine those found disposing of waste there.
