Traffic congestion has become a serious and ongoing problem in the Honda area, troubling motorists every day. Local residents and vehicle owners have demanded quick action, saying the situation is getting worse. Traffic jams during morning, afternoon and evening hours are causing problems for government and private employees, as well as students. Citizens have urged the local MLA to take special note and find an effective solution.
Honda in Sattari taluka is developing rapidly. It is located between Sanquelim and Valpoi and offers easy access to both places. The same road is also used by vehicles travelling to Ponda. Traffic from Valpoi heading towards Saquelim, Bicholim and Panaji also passes through this route, making it busy throughout the day. From a transport point of view, this road is very important, leading to heavy traffic during peak hours.
Frequent traffic jams are reported at the main junction in Honda. The road stretch is narrow and lined with buildings on both sides, leaving little scope for widening. Vehicles often struggle to pass each other. Heavy trucks carrying goods to and from the Honda and Pissurlem Industrial Estate also use this road. Sixteen-wheeler trucks sometimes get stuck while taking turns, creating bottlenecks and delaying other vehicles.
In the morning, office-goers travel to work, in the afternoon student movement increases traffic, and in the evening congestion rises again as people return home. Residents say traffic jams have become a daily occurrence.
Locals believe that an alternative bypass around central Honda is now necessary. With traffic expected to grow further, they say planning should begin without delay. They hope that MLA Deviya Rane will take steps to address the issue and provide relief to the public.
