PANAJI: The Goa government will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in executive public office, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced on Wednesday.
“To mark the completion of these 25 years, his birthday on September 17 is being celebrated. From September 17 to October 17, a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will be implemented across India,” Sawant said. The campaign, centred around PM Modi’s birthday on September 17, will feature a series of programmes across schools, colleges, panchayats, municipalities, constituencies and public venues across Goa.
Sawant said the initiatives are planned to showcase developmental and welfare work undertaken during PM Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India, and to support the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Under ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’, beneficiaries of Central government schemes will light seven lamps at 7 pm on September 17 at their homes as a gesture of support and blessings for the Prime Minister.
The programme will involve beneficiaries of schemes including PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Startup India and Stand-Up India. BJP workers, MLAs and Ministers will also participate and share photographs on social media using #AashirwadKaDiya.
Under ‘Seva Chitra’ and ‘Mere Sapno Ka Bharat’, drawing, sketching and elocution competitions will be organised in schools and higher secondary institutions in coordination with the Directorate of Education. Students will be encouraged to depict developmental projects including the Manohar International Airport, Super Specialty Hospital, Zuari Bridge and Porvorim Elevated Corridor.
The ‘Seva Smaran’ and ‘Namo Seva’ programme will feature street plays, drama and theatre competitions at colleges and public Ganesh Utsav mandals, in coordination with the Department of Art & Culture and Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs.
Under ‘Angan Ka Milan’ and ‘Angan Milan Seva’, regional conventions will be organised across three districts for Anganwadi and ASHA workers. The programmes will recognise the contribution of these frontline workers and provide a platform to share their experiences of community service.
The ‘Kahani Badlav Ki / Seva Ki Kahani’ initiative will involve local social media influencers and content creators showcasing developmental changes in Goa and across India. The campaign will be facilitated by the Directorate of Information & Publicity and the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG).
The ‘Seva Jyoti Yatra / Kalash Yatra’ will feature processions across all assembly constituencies. The campaign will also include a ‘Vadnagar to Varanasi Yatra’, in which citizens and BJYM members from Goa will participate in a motorcycle rally tracing Modi’s journey from his hometown Vadnagar to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
Under ‘Seva Mera Yogdan’, cleanliness drives will be organised at Amrit Sarovars, heritage sites, temples, churches and other public locations as part of the Swachhata Abhiyan. The initiative will be coordinated by the Water Resources Department.
The ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan / Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ will involve outreach camps across all 40 constituencies to take government schemes and services directly to citizens. The programme will focus on facilitating access to targeted welfare schemes and government services at the local level.
The ‘Seva Ke Rang, Rashtra Ke Sang’ programme will feature rangoli and elocution competitions at schools, colleges and Ganesh Utsav venues. The initiative will be conducted by the Department of Art & Culture and the Social Welfare Department.
Under ‘Hackathon & Innovation Challenge (Seva First)’, AI and IT innovation hackathons will be organised across colleges to engage young people in technology and innovation and encourage students to develop technology-based ideas and solutions.
The ‘Jan Seva Mahakumbh / Sushasan Seva Samvad’ will feature good governance dialogue conventions involving Panchs, Sarpanchs, councillors and other local representatives across three locations. The discussions will focus on governance and delivery of public services at the grassroots level.
Sawant said the programmes would be conducted on a large scale across Goa from September 17 to October 17, with the participation of various government departments, Ministers, MLAs, Secretaries and heads of departments.
“These proposed programmes will be organised on a large scale across high schools, colleges, panchayats, municipalities and Ganesh Utsav venues in Goa. I request all Goans to cooperate enthusiastically,” Sawant said.
