Goa to soon get Rs 200 cr worth MSME centre

CM Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the Central government is soon to establish a Rs 200 crore training center in Goa, which is aimed at strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).  

Speaking at the NITI Aayog’s workshop on women-led development at Dona Paula on Tuesday, Sawant underscored Goa’s major contribution to the startup ecosystem while citing nearly 400 registered startups in the State.  

“Our primary objective is to enhance Goa’s economic stability, job creation, stimulate industrial growth, contribute to the country’s GDP, and align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.  

The CM also lauded the pivotal role played by women in promoting inclusivity and driving positive transformations across various sectors including education, agriculture, space, and technology. “Over 15.7 million women-owned enterprises are there at present and they have been successfully contributing to the entrepreneurial ecosystem across all the sectors of the society,” he added.  

Sawant also took the opportunity to hail the Women’s Reservation Bill, foreseeing a future where the number of women legislators will rise.
