He said the panchayat had directed the wine shops and the wholesale joints to issue cans but not bottles to tourists.
“We had taken a meeting of all stakeholders and informed them about the dos and don’ts. The shack owners should also cooperate,” Rodrigues said.
Incidentally, quite a few of the shack owners had created private enclosures on the beach front by erecting cloth barriers on both sides right up to the sea.
“Each of the shack owners protected their customers inside the enclosures where they could dance to the loud music and do whatever they wanted,” a local in the know informed.
The beaches were flooded with domestic tourists who drank, ate and even slept through the night on the beaches.
A local informed that these tourists don’t only drink and eat but also puke and urinate on the beaches.
“These tourists do not contribute to the local economy. With the mess they create on the beaches these Indian tourists discourage the good tourists from coming to Goa,” the local said.
