PANAJI : Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Goa will continue its legal battle over the Mhadei river dispute and will not back out of the case, responding to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s recent statement urging Karnataka to withdraw its pending Supreme Court cases.
Addressing the media, Sawant said Goa’s legal panel and Advocate General are fighting the case and asserted that the state is confident of victory.
"We have our legal panel and Advocate General fighting for this case. We will fight this case till the end. It’s a definite win for Goa in the Mhadei case," he said.
Earlier this week, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said he had urged the Karnataka government to withdraw its pending Supreme Court cases related to the Mhadei river dispute to remove administrative hurdles and expedite project clearances.
Asked about Joshi’s remarks, Sawant said the matter was a legal issue and declined to comment on statements made in Karnataka. "Supreme Court case and Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal case are all legal issues. Hence, who said what in Karnataka, I have no comments on it," he said.
