MARGAO

The ongoing war between GoaMiles and local taxi operators flared up again in the commercial capital on Saturday when a GoaMiles driver complained of being wrongly restrained and abused by the rival group.

Based on a complaint received from one Wasim Akram, the Margao police registered a FIR against three persons Manjunath Kuriyawar, Dinesh Varak and Rishab Karapurkar for wrongfully restraining and abusing the complainant with filthy words.

Both the groups were later seen at the Margao police station.

The incident occurred on the Aquem side of the Margao railway station when the complainant Wasim Akram had come to collect passengers to drop them at Zuri Beach, Varca. When the four passengers sat inside his GoaMiles taxi, he claimed that a person wearing a black shirt came near him and questioned why he was taking the customers from the railway

station.

When the complainant disclosed that he is registered with GoaMiles, the person stopped his car from moving and threatened him with filthy words.’

This is the second time that the local taxi operators and the GoaMiles taxi drivers have crossed

 swords.

Last time around, the black and yellow taxi operators had lodged a complaint against some persons for assaulting their colleague right at the taxi counter outside the Margao railway

station.
