MARGAO
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat has said the dreams of Goan filmmakers have been shattered once again as 'dream girl' inaugurated the 52nd International Film Festival of India on Saturday in Goa.
“The Entertainment Society of Goa under insensitive BJP government headed by CM Pramod Sawant continues to insult Goan films by not including them in the official sections of IFFI”, the Opposition leader charged.
He said it is most unfortunate that the Entertainment Society of Goa has failed even to announce the selected films for the so-called Goan Premier Section just hours before the inaugural function of the 52nd IFFI. This exposes the lethargic and irresponsible approach of the BJP government towards the local film fraternity, he said.
“I want to again remind the people of Goa that Goan Films have been given second class treatment from the time BJP came to power in 2012. Every year only after demanding from the opposition, ESG has performed formality of screening Goan films in the non-official section of the film festival.”, Kamat said.
The Opposition leader once again demanded that Chief Minister Sawant come clean on what is the exact status of the Goan Film Section announced by the ESG and what benefits the local Film Makers will get after screening their films in IFFI-2021.
