Goan police teams rush to Belagavi

Multiple teams from Goa police visited Belagavi on Tuesday, following the recovery of 37 vehicles stolen from Goa, even as the Belagavi police hopes to recover more stolen cars based on inputs from two arrested persons.

BELAGAVI

While one accused, Parshuram Kumbar, a driver by profession, is a resident of Vasco, Belagavi police also suspects the involvement of more persons from Belagavi and Goa in this connection.
CPI BR Gaddekar told ‘The Goan’ that three police teams from the Porvorim, Panaji and Margao police stations visited the police commissioner’s office and obtained details of the stolen Goan cars recovered, including the chassis number, where the authenticities of the documents produced with the vehicles could be ascertained.
“Senior police officials from Goa are also in touch with us over telephone and have extended their cooperation in sharing related information,” CPI Gaddekar said. “The magnitude of the nexus can be ascertained only after the Goa police establishes contacts with the actual owners of the vehicles.”
Police investigations have revealed that all these cars were stolen from Goa within a period of three months.
Meanwhile, both accused, Parshuram Kumbar and Navid Khatib, were remanded to judicial custody late Monday night.
