The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has extended the timeline till December 31 for the administration of the 2nd dose of Covishield vaccine prior to the prescribed time interval (after 28 days but before 84 days) to persons intending to undertake international travel.
The extension of the facility will help designated travellers, including seafarers, who travel abroad for the purpose of employment.
Goan seafarers have been at sea after the facility had ended on October 31 without any further extension. Petitions were made to NRI Commissioner, Adv Narendra Sawaikar, who had dashed off a letter to Union Health Minister M Mandaviya to extend the facility in the interest of international travellers, including seafarers.
The facility is basically meant for students, who have to undertake foreign travel for the purpose of education; persons who have to take up jobs in foreign countries; athletes, sportspersons, travel for the purposes such as for availing treatment services for any health problem and foreign nationals who have to return to their country.
