In wake of rising Covid positive cases Government of Karnataka has imposed stringent measures at check posts bordering Maharashtra. On Sunday, all the vehicles entering from Maharashtra were being checked at all the check posts bordering Maharashtra.
Vehicles coming from Goa had to bear the brunt as many Goans who were travelling via Amboli and reaching Belagavi via Bachi were sent back as most of them did not have the RT-PCR negative certificate. Revenue department personal assisted by police were conducting tests of each and every vehicle entering the state at all the border points.
In a major development that has stunned authorities in Karnataka , over 300 medical students from SDM College of Medical Sciences have been tested Covid positive making this a second major case of cluster infections in Karnataka. Earlier this week, 33 students and a staffer from an international school in Bengaluru had tested positive. In both the cases the institutions were cordoned off while Rapid Antigen tests were conducted on all those who had come in contact with this students.
As the preventive measure, Government of Karnataka has put off all the social and cultural events in all the educational institutions in the state for two months.
As the result of Government order, Belagavi district authorities too had tough time facing the passengers who were shocked with the sudden development.
“We were not aware about the sudden development and had to come back as the police did not allow us,” some Goans told media persons at the border.
Confusion prevailed among Goan travellers as to why they were not allowed to enter Karnataka border as there was no ban on Goans entering Karnataka.
