Many activists, including some politicians, extended their support to the fast satyagraha of the heritage lovers, which entered the fifth day on Sunday.
Among those who extended their support included activists Abhijit Prabhudessai, Shankar Polgi, Rama Kankonkar, Aires Rodrigues, Dattaram Naik, Munnalal Halwai.
Apart from the activists, Cong’s women president Beena Naik and NCP’s leader Sanjay Barde also extended their support to the satyagraha.
All of them paid a visit to the satyagrahis at Old Goa on Sunday.
Meanwhile, many people from different parts of Goa are also extending their support to the agitation with majority of them commenting that the structure has to be demolished.
The comments are written in the comment book, which is maintained by the satyagrahis.
A youth from Margao Andrea writes, “Save our beautiful motherland so that we youth can have a better future and enjoy our beautiful heritage.”
Writes Maria Cardozo from Chandor, “Save our heritage for our next generation. We need our heritage and the beauty of Goa.” “Preserve the heritage of our motherland for future generations,” writes Raiza Rodrigues from Corlim. James Fernandes writes, “The structure is a symbol of arrogance and irresponsible act.”
Apart from Goans, tourists too are coming out in favour of the satyagrahis. A tourist from Chandigarh Mohit Sharma writes, “Your statement is right. Indian government take action (in) this matter. We support you.” Kiran Bagewadi from Pune writes, “We support you guys.”
Madhava from Kasaragod writes, “It doesn’t make sense that the illegal construction happens in a heritage site. Authorities need to take responsible actions.” Durga Prasad from Telangana writes, “Save our heritage for our next generation.”
