Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the private industries have been told that they have to give preference to Goans who are registered in the employment exchange.
“We want to create employment by keeping the Goan youth in mind and we will do it. The private companies who have vacancies should compulsorily advertise in Goa and we are monitoring it,” Sawant said, while responding in the discussion on jobs in government and private sector.
The CM informed that the government cannot make 100 percent job reservation for locals in the private sector.
“For government jobs we have made 100 percent 15-year domicile certificate compulsory. We cannot force certain conditions on industries. The State should be industry friendly,” he said.
He further informed that there was a potential job opportunity available in the private sector and that is why an online portal was opened for private industries in the employment exchange.
“We have asked the private companies to link to the online portal so that they can take people from the labour department. In my last tenure a lot of industries invited the youth from the labour department for interviews. At least 250 offer letters were also issued,” he said.
He further informed that the government has formed a separate skill department to ensure that the youth are trained for the required skills.
