The Governor noted that Dr. Lohia's presence at Lohia Maidan in Margao gave fresh momentum to the movement and helped shape the final phase of Goa's struggle for freedom. "His inspiring presence at Lohia Maidan, Margao, gave the freedom movement a new momentum and a decisive direction, opening a glorious final chapter in the history of Goa's struggle for freedom," he added.
Reflecting on Goa's achievements since Liberation, the Governor said the state has made remarkable progress across various sectors while preserving its unique identity. "The State has emerged as a vibrant centre of education, culture, tourism and economic development while preserving its unique heritage and identity. These achievements stand as a fitting tribute to the vision, courage and sacrifices of those who fought for Goa's freedom," he said.
Paying homage to freedom fighters and martyrs, the Governor called upon citizens to uphold the values for which they fought.
"On this solemn and historic occasion, let us all bow our heads in reverence to the memory of the martyrs, freedom fighters and statesmen whose sacrifices and vision paved the way for Goa's liberation, and reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of freedom, peace, harmony and inclusive development," he said.
The Governor further expressed hope that the spirit of Goa Revolution Day would continue to inspire future generations to contribute towards the progress and prosperity of Goa and the nation.
