In a clear message that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar would wield control in the State, BJP National President Amit Shah on Monday assured that the BJP government in Goa would run under Parrikar's supervision, no matter where he is posted by the BJP.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting in Vasco, Shah was mindful to growing demands for Parrikar to lead the state BJP after assembly elections and said the BJP leadership would look into this matter after the polls.
“The people in Goa want Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to come back and lead the state. The BJP leadership will look into the matter after the elections, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi also needs him at the Centre. But no matter where Parrikar is, the next BJP government in Goa will run under his supervision,” assured Shah.
Assuring that if Goa elected BJP for the next five years, Shah said the BJP governments at the Centre and State would work hand-in-hand to further develop the state.
“Goa is going to polls along with four other states and I know that in all the five states, BJP will emerge victorious and form the next government,” added Shah.
Appreciating Goa for being the first state to introduce schemes like Laadli Laxmi and Gruha Aadhaar, the BJP national president said 31,000 jobs would be created in Goa to cater to the unemployed in the next few years.
In his address, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar stated the BJP government had provided a stable government during the last five years, unlike the Congress which changed twelve chief ministers during its ten-year rule.
“Employment is a major issue in the state and if BJP is elected to power, it will provide employment to everyone and at the end of five years, one will have to hunt for an unemployed youth in the state,” claimed Parrikar.
Commenting on the issue of illegal houses, Parrikar stated that the government has legalized houses built by parties concerned on their own land. “Illegal houses built on government and communidade land will be legalized in the years to come,” he added.
Other speakers at the meeting included Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik, South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar, State BJP President Vinay Tendulkar, all four BJP candidates in Mormugao taluka, Alina Saldanha (Cortalim), Mauvin Godinho (Dabolim), Carlos Almeida (Vasco) and Milind Naik (Mormugao) and MMC chairperson Deepak Naik.
