Two motorcycle-borne assailants snatched a gold chain from the neck of senior citizen Inocente Gomes alias Inacina Fernandes at Navelim on Sunday morning.
The incident took place at around 9.35 am when she was returning home after attending morning Mass.
When she reached near the Perpetual Socorro Convent High School, two unidentified men on a motorcycle approached from the Navelim side. The pillion rider suddenly snatched her gold chain and the pair sped away towards Dongorim.
The victim said the total value of the gold chain and pendant was about Rs 1.20 lakh.
Later, the victim, along with social activist Pratima Coutinho, visited the Margao police station and lodged a complaint. Coutinho urged the police to step up patrolling and ensure better safety for senior citizens.
