According to the Customs, acting on specific information, the AIU seized 2.8 kgs of gold in the form of jewellery from the man, who had arrived in Goa from Doha via Dubai by a Qatar Airways flight.
The Customs officials said the accused was carrying the gold jewellery on person at the time of the seizure.
“The gold was seized and is liable for confiscation under the provision of Sections 110 and 111 of the Customs Act,” said the Customs.
The officials said the person was arrested under Section 104 of the Customs Act and is investigating the case.
The Customs official added that the operation was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Customs Goa Gaurav Kumar Jain under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Customs S K Sinha and Commissioner of Customs Goa K Anpazhakan.
