Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav on Sunday launched the Gomati Foundation, named after his mother, to support education and social welfare in Mormugao Taluka.
As part of the initiative, Yadav has funded the construction of additional classrooms at the Government School in Dabolim, allowing it to be upgraded from a primary school to one offering education up to Class X. The upgraded school will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on July 28.
The foundation will also sponsor the complete educational expenses of ten students from economically weaker families every year. Beneficiaries will be selected from schools across Mormugao Taluka. Yadav said the foundation aims to ensure that no child is denied education due to financial difficulties. He has previously supported free bus transport for students and helped improve school infrastructure.
His efforts have contributed to an increase in enrolment at the Government School in Dabolim from around 40 students to more than 150.
