The voting passed off peacefully at the 92 polling booths and no untoward incident was reported.
Many candidates were seen standing within 100 metres from the respective polling booths, while supporters of the candidates helped to take the handicapped, physically disabled and elderly persons to the polling booths.
Some candidates called the voters asking them to vote, while some voters phoned and brought their voters, who were not in the village, to cast their votes.
A total of 477 candidates are contesting from 132 wards in 17 panchayats in Pernem taluka. Votes from Pernem taluka will be counted at Tuem Panchayat and at St Joseph HS at Pernem on Tuesday.
