Two persons had died while over a dozen onlookers were injured when the old unused iron footbridge attached to the bridge at Sanvordem collapsed in River Zuari on May 18.
While visiting the injured in hospital a day after the tragedy, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai had said the Sanvordem footbridge collapse incident was a lesson for authorities to dismantle decommissioned bridges.
However, a visit on Friday revealed that the ill-fated footbridge still lies at the site and authorities have merely placed laterite stones on both sides as a temporary measure to prevent access to the bridge.
Besides, there are no signboards at the site warning people about the danger ahead on the footbridge.
The portion of the collapsed footbridge that was cut open in the wee hours of May 19 still lies along the river banks.
