Rani Sarin, an eminent mixed media artist based in Boston Massachusetts hosts a very thought-provoking workshop today afternoon at the GalleryGitanjali in Panaji. The workshop is open to individuals above the age of 15 years. Using maps as both metaphor and material the workshop will explore mapping as a way of expressing personal and public, real and imagined spaces and journeys using mixed media like photographs, drawings, the written word, images from newspapers or magazines, maps, etc.

The students will be encouraged to experiment with different combinations to develop personal imagery with the help of paper, color pencils, crayons and scissors and glue to make collages.

Rani Sarin has a degree in art from the prestigious JJ School of Art in Bombay and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Her works are a part of collections in India, Sweden and the U.S.

Here's what you need to bring along if you are thinking of attending the workshop: Paper or cardboard, scissors, photographs that you might want to use in the collage, drawings, crayons, pencils, poster paints or acrylics and maps. Paper and drawing material will be provided at the workshop.
