St Andre, St Cruz constituencies polling peaceful

Polling in 10 panchayats in St Andre and St Cruz constituencies passed off peacefully on Sunday.

Earlier in the day when the polling began, a low turnout was witnessed at some booths, but it increased later in the day. 
No candidate was allowed inside the booths and police deployed was deployed at all the polling stations.  
According to social worker Tony Fernandes from Agassaim the elections were peaceful in the village with no untoward incident.
Acting and former sarpanchas and new faces are contesting the elections in 10 village panchayats of St Andre and St Cruz Assembly constituncies.  
Many candidates visited temples and churches early in the morning before polling began.

Voting picks up late in Chicalim, Bogmalo

The fate of 43 candidates from Chicalim Panchayat and 22 from Chicolna-Bogmalo was sealed in the ballot boxes on Sunday.

VASCO  Villagers from Chicalim voted for their choice of candidate at 11 polling stations spread over Chicalim area, while the villagers of Chicolna-Bogmalo cast their votes for their candidate at 7 polling booths.   In the morning, voting at Chicalim and Bogmalo was dull as due to rainfall, the villagers did not come out in large numbers to cast their votes. However, the voting picked up in the later half of the day till the end of voting.…
