A major fire gutted a wine store in the Gogol-Margao on Sunday morning, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees.
The incident is believed to have taken place at around 10 am. The Margao fire which received a call at around 10.17 am rushed to the spot to start the fire fighting operations at around 10.30 am.
Fire officer Gill D’Souza informed that the massive fire engulfed the wine store, destroying goods stacked inside.
He pointed out that the owner has suffered an estimated loss of over Rs three lakh, while the fire brigade has managed to save goods worth around Rs 20 lakh.
The cause of the fire is under investigation even though the fire personnel have suspected a short circuit behind the inferno.
