Governance at doorsteps: CM & his team for Canacona

In a major effort to bring governance and address grievances at the doorsteps of residents in the State’s southernmost taluka, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will lead a team of officials from as many as 26 different departments in Canacona on Saturday.

Addressing a news conference in Canacona, Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes said the programme is part of the statewide Sarkar Tumchea Dhari (Government at your Doorstep) initiative of the State government.

“In keeping with Swayampurna Goem and Prime Minister's Atminirbhar Bharat projects in mind, the chief minister has come out with yet another programme to address deficiencies in governance and help assist people to resolve their grievances,” said Fernandes.

Fernandes said 26 different redressal counters will be available at the Government Higher Secondary School opposite Canacona Police Station in Mastimoll-Canacona on September 25, where assistance will be provided and works pending with various departments will be addressed at the site.

Sawant will be personally present along with the chief secretary, secretary (revenue), collector, GMC dean and director of health services, to interact directly with the public.

He will also hold a joint interaction with all elected representatives including panch members, councillors, zilla panchayat members, panchayat secrtaries, Directors and officials from the departments of Panchayats, RDA, Agriculture, PWD and Electricity, besides Swayampurna Mitra's of Canacona constituency.

The day-long 'Sarkar Tumchea Dhari' will have grievance cells for health, PWD (roads and water supply), RDA, animal husbandry, labour and employment, social welfare, Goa Electronics Ltd, water resources, Swayampurna Goa, sub-registrar, provedoria, panchayat, dy collector, electricity, agriculture, EDC, women and child development, planning and statistics, fisheries, IT, civil supplies, Aadhaar card (new, corrections, additions) lead banks and police.

Besides, there will be a special vaccination session for those without ID Cards and Nepali citizens.

Fernandes said people will have free transportation to and from the venue as Bal Rath buses have been engaged from the respective panchayats.

“Food will be provided to those who have to stay long to get their grievances addressed or works done,” said Fernandes.

“People have faced and continue to face a lot of issues due to the lockdown, curfew and Covid pandemic. Moreover, the government departments could not function as per public expectations. The ‘Sarkar Tumchea Dhari’ initiative will provide an opportunity to people to get their grievances and queries addressed,” Fernandes added.

South Goa officials meet to 
chalk out plan of action

MARGAO:  As the “Government at your Doorsteps” initiative of Goa government shifts to South Goa in Canacona on Saturday, senior South Goa district officials had an interaction with heads of departments at the district Collectorate on Wednesday to chalk out the plan of action.

To ensure that the programme is held without any problem, South Goa Additional Collector, Sanjit Rodrigues later travelled to Canacona to hold further interactions with the local level officials.

Chaired by South Goa district Collector, Ruchika Katyal, the preparatory meeting with the heads of different departments was held to brief about the government at your doorsteps initiative and the role to be played by the departments on September 25 at Canacona.

Senior district administration officials, including Additional Collectors Sanjit Rodrigues, Surendra Naik, Ajit Panchwadkar and other officials participated in the preparatory meeting to ensure that the programme at Canacona goes on smoothly.

It is learnt that Ruchika Katyal along with Additional Sanjit Rodrigues are expected to visit Canacona on Thursday to give final touches to the plan.
