Describing Goa as a beautiful State and a gift of God, with people of the state good at heart, Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Thursday said all the MLAs and elected representatives irrespective of political affiliations, caste and creed helped him to visit the villages during his Goa Sampurna Yatra.

The Governor first visited the Damodar Sal, Margao on Thursday morning, where he visited the room which was visited by Swami Vivekananda before heading to Chicago, USA.  The governor later paid a visit to the Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim where he was welcomed by Parish Priest Fr  Gabriel Coutino, MLA Ulhas Tuemkar, ZP member Cipru Cardozo and others.

Addressing the Sarpanchs, panchas and elected representatives of Navelim constituency, the governor said that this is perhaps the first time that a Governor is visiting the villages of a state, saying that his Goa Sampurna Yatra will finally culminate with a visit to the Sankhali constituency represented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

Referring to the historic decision at the G-20 summit wherein India has been choosen to host the G-20 summit in 2023, the governor reminded that at one point of time, the country was ridiculed by the colonial powers at the time of Independence that this country will not stay together but disintegrate.

Asserting that the people are supreme in a democratic set up, the governor said that the Raj Bhavan has come at the doorstep of people extending financial support and expressing it's commitment towards serving the people, instead of calling the people to Raj Bhavan.

He has expressed his satisfaction as the major part of Goa has been covered under his unique Goa Sampurna Yatra initiative. The initiative has successfully extended financial help to more than thousand dialysis and cancer patients. Governor also informed large number of orphanages, old age homes and other human service organizations received financial help under the initiative implemented by utilising Governor Discretionary Funds.

Governor lauded folk artists who performed kunbi dance on the occasion and expressed need to further nurture the craft for next generations.

Navelim MLA, Ulhas Tuyenkar lauded the efforts of Governor for implementing Goa Sampurna Yatra. He also informed Governor about various progress and development achieved by the people in Navelim constituency.

Earlier in the day, the Governor visited Shree Damodar Sal, Margao where Swami Vivekananda had stayed during his historic visit to Goa. Margao MLA Digamber Kamat, owner of the house Pradeep Nayak and others were present on the occasion.
