Govt accused of using goondas to supress activists’ voices

MARGAO
Tribal organizations have said it is unfortunate to see that Goa Government is now using goondas and criminal forces to suppress the voices of activists fighting for the rights of the people of Melauli.

Referring to the incident when activist Rama Kankonkar’s car parked at his residence at Curca-Tiswadi was set afire by unknown persons, the tribal leaders said, “We understand that this incident has happened out of frustration as Rama Kankonkar has been absconding from the date of lodging of illegal FIR against him and the Goa police could not trace him till date.”

Condemning the incident, the tribal leaders demanded immediate action against those people responsible for the mischief.

“It is time to see whether Goa police is capable of investigation and arrest the culprits who have set Rama’s car on fire or they are just puppets of the Goa government,” the leaders said, while issuing a warning to the government that such pressure tactics cannot and will not be tolerated.
