The State government has appointed an Administrator to run the affairs of Harvalem village panchayat in Bicholim taluka, following the end of term of its elected members.
In a notification issued, the Director Panchayat Siddhi Halarnkar informed that the term of the Sarpanch, Dy. Sarpanch, and other members of the Harvalem VP, ended on August 18.
The government has appointed Awal Karin, attached to the office of Bicholim Mamlatdar, as the Administrator.
“It is necessary to appoint an Administrator to run the affairs and all other activities of said Panchayat till the General Election is held and a new elected body of members headed by the Sarpanch takes the charge of the said Panchayat,” the department said.
The department said that during the period of her appointment, she will exercise all the powers, perform and discharge all the duties and functions conferred and imposed upon the Sarpanch or the Dy. Sarpanch or the members of the Village Panchayat Harvalem under the provisions of the said Act and the rules made thereunder or any other law.
“However, no decision in exercise of the above powers shall be taken by the Administrator without approval of the Block Development Officer, Bicholim Taluka/Block,” it added.
