Govt decides to clear seized liquor stock

The government has decided to clear the seized liquor bottles worth lakhs of rupees that were lying in the excise godown since 2016. These will generate lakhs of rupees in revenue to the State.

Earlier, the government used to destroy seized liquor completing legal formalities in the presence of government officials.

The people can get this liquor at 20 per cent cheaper prices than the prevailing market rates. As per notification published this Thursday the government has decided to auction the liquor seized from 2015 till 2018 worth lakhs of rupees seized by the Sanguem excise office.

The auction will be held on September 30 at Sanguem excise station. The licenced liquor vendors will be allowed to participate in the auction. The liquor bottles of various brands like Whisky, Rum, Napoleon Port Wine, Cashew Fenny, Coconut Feni, Brandy, Vodka will be auctioned.
